Egypt's Islamists rally ahead of vote

One day ahead of presidential elections, Egypt's Muslim Brotherhood candidate, Mohamed Morsy, takes part in Friday prayers in this poor Cairo neighbourhood.

Morsy is due to compete in a two-day run-off election scheduled for this weekend against Ahmed Shafik, the last prime minister of former president Hosni Mubarak's rule.

In Cairo's Tahrir Square, calls for a demonstration were answered by only a few, one day after Egypt's supreme court controversially dissolved parliament.

Judges also ruled to keep Shafik in the race, despite calls to disqualify him because of his links to the former government.

Security forces were out in force around the parliament building ahead of the expected protests, with side streets around the building closed.

Election results will be announced on June 21.
