US court rules Pakistani woman guilty of attempted murder

6 years ago205 views

A Pakistani female neuroscientist has been convicted of trying to kill US soldiers and FBI agents while she was being detained at a police station in Afghanistan.

Prosecutors accuse Aafia Siddiqui of firing at her interrogators but her lawyers say there was no forensic evidence that the shooting took place.

US authorities have linked Siddiqui to al-Qaeda but she was not charged with any terrorism related activities.

Al Jazeera's Kristen Saloomey reports from New York. (04 Feb, 2010)
