Governments worldwide have pledged almost $1bn in aid to earthquake-stricken Haiti, with the biggest single contribution of $130m coming from the United States.

Part of that has come from individuals giving money via text messages on their mobile phones.

Over $27m has been raised so far from people in America donating by text messages to charities - including to the Yele Haiti Foundation, headed by Wyclef Jean, the Haitian-born musician.
