Madonna kicked off a new world tour on Thursday (May 31) in Israel. The MDNA show featured several dance routines that, among the more whimsical numbers, included a baton-twirling performance in cheerleader formation.

The 53-year moved better than performers half her age - going full throttle with a mix of classic hits and new songs before a packed audience.

After Israel, Madonna continues on to more than 20 European and Middle Eastern cities, followed by a tour of North and South America and Australia.
