Threats from Al-Qaeda frightened the U.S. and Britain into indefinite closure of their embassies in Yemen, on Sunday. According to the U.S. embassy website, the danger is that the group's Yemen-based offshoot, Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula, grows stronger, and is planning attacks on western targets.

But the US and Britain have also promised to increase military aid to Yemen. Without serious intervention, they worry that the country will collapse, and become an agar plate for terror.
