Americans allege Pakistan torture
Five American Muslims detained in Pakistan since December on suspicion of "terrorist" activity are now claiming that they have been tortured by the US FBI and Pakistani police.

The men have been accused of plotting attacks against Pakistani targets and of collaborating with al-Qaeda to fight US forces.

Video footage caught them yelling for "help" and saying "we've been tortured" from a prison van as they were on their way to appear in court on Tuesday.

The detainees also managed to secretly smuggle out a note appealing for help.

Richard Snelsire, a spokesperson of the US embassy in the Pakistani capital, Islamabad, later rejected the allegations as "baseless and utterly untrue".

Al Jazeera's Owen Fay reports.
