The senior US military officer has told politicians that more forces will probably needed in Afghanistan if
the Taliban is to be overcome. The chairman of the US joint chiefs of staff, Admiral Mike Mullen, was taking questions on Capitol Hill.

Mullen painted a sobering picture of the war in Afghanistan. He said the Taliban know the country, know how to fight and had studied US troops.

He also said that the threat posed by the lack of good governance and corruption in Afghanistan was just as great as the threat of the Taliban. Al Jazeera's Rosiland Jordan reports.
