Rally car driver loses control, crashes into crowd

In Ireland, the site where a rally car driver lost control of his car and plowed into a crowd, killing two people on Sunday.

SOUNDBITE: Police Superintendent Gerry O'Brien saying:

"One of the rally cars, which was taking part in the rally, went over a hump in the road and went into midair, and as it landed it appears at this stage it lost control and then it drove into a group of spectators.

The Ford Escort was left lying on its side in the road.

According to local media, the two people killed included a 30-year-old woman and a 50-year-old sports photographer.

Five other spectators and the car's driver and co-driver were also hurt but avoided serious injury.
