Amateur video of bodies laid out in a room and said to be shot in the Syrian city of Hama on Monday (May 28) has appeared on a social media website.

Syrian activists said President Bashar al-Assad's forces killed at least 41 people, including eight children, in an artillery assault on the city over the past 24 hours.

Reuters cannot independently verify the content of amateur video posted on the internet.

Opposition sources said Syrian tanks and armoured vehicles opened fire on several neighbourhoods of Hama on Sunday (May 27) after attacks by rebel Free Syrian Army fighters on roadblocks and other positions manned by Assad's forces.
