Muslim Women CHOOSE to cover themselves because it IS a commandment in the Qur'an, the Verbatim Word of God. The hijab is, among other things, a dress code that protects women and gives them modesty and respect. Everything should be covered for woman when she goes outside in public, everything except: the face and hands. The clothes have to be loose so that the curves of the body be concealed, the clothes cannot be see-through, the clothes should not resemble that of men.

The newsflashes on television misrepresent Islam, showing and picking up some of the black sheep among the Muslims. Such black sheep exist in every religion including Christianity.

To understand the principles of a religion, one should look at its scriptures, not the followers. So to understand Islam for what is truly is, one should above all look in the Qur'an.
