they have a common point, though: They are both for liberal capitalism, they are both for austerity. I wouldn't call that a "minor" difference! Recent events in Greece show that the real division stands between those who think austerity is a necessary evil (Sarkozy, Bayrou, Hollande...), and those who think it's stupid and inefficient (Mélenchon, Poutou, Arthaud).
