Southwest Airlines Named Eco-Pioneer; Canadian Tire Records GHG Decrease; Kohl's Delivers First CSR Report - CSR Minute for May 15, 2012

Southwest Airlines has been named Eco-Pioneer of the Year by Air Transport World Magazine. Southwest was recognized for its long-standing focus on efficiency, and its triple bottom line business strategy. The company is the first winner of the magazine’s inaugural 2012 Eco-Aviation Awards.

Canadian Tire has projected a ten-times decrease in greenhouse gas emissions, due to the large-scale road-to-rail conversion that the company has undertaken. Also, the company’s business sustainability strategy has reported $2 million dollars in retail sales of energy-saving products through in-store events at 288 Canadian Tire locations, held in partnership with utilities BC Hydro, SaskPower, Ontario Power Authority, and Nova Scotia Power.
