The Hasabah area in the capital Sanaa was the scene of fierce clashes between security forces and fighters loyal to a powerful tribal chief opposed to president Ali Abdallah Saleh.
Many people were killed and injured in the fighting.
Elsewhere in the capital, young activists continue to vent their frustrations with the rulership. They demand that the president be tried for crimes committed against his people.
