Pakistan said it had successfully test-fired a short range ballistic missile on Thursday (May 10), capable of carrying nuclear warheads.

The launch of the missile Hatf III (Ghaznavi), with a range of 290 kilometres (180 miles), was conducted at the conclusion of an annual field training exercise of the Army Strategic Force Command (ASFC).

The test was witnessed by the senior military officials and scientists.

The missile launch is Pakistan's second in the past two weeks.

On April 25, Pakistan launched an intermediate-ranged missile after India tested a missile capable of delivering nuclear warheads as far as Beijing and Eastern Europe.
