Scientists at the German Cancer Research Center, the DKFZ, and at Heidelberg University Hospital say they may have found the key to fighting a particularly aggressive type of cancer. Most of the time, brain tumors, also known as glioblastomas, are fatal.
Yet researchers have discovered they can be destroyed by parvoviruses. In animal tests, two thirds of the subjects were tumor free after treatment. Now, trials are being carried out on humans. The virus poses no threat to humans, but seems to stop the cancer.
