Some estimates suggest that as many as one in three American soldiers may be affected by post-traumatic stress disorder.

The ailment is invisible, and sometimes deadly - blamed for a spike in army suicides, murders and depression.

But some soldiers say the army only considers physical injuries to be real ones.

Al Jazeera's Nick Spicer reports from Fort Hood, the biggest military base in the US.
