Beyonce shines at Met gala, Maurice Sendak dies at age 83

It was the fashion event of the year in New York on Monday (May 07) - the annual Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute Benefit gala. The night's show-stoppers were new mom Beyonce, who stunned in a barely there Givenchy dress, and newly engaged couple Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel made a rare joint appearance, posing together for pictures. Other A-listers attending included Rihanna, Mick Jagger, and Gisele Bundchen with husband, Tom Brady.

American writer and illustrator Maurice Sendak, who is best known for his classic children's books including "Where the Wild Things Are," has died. Sendak died in Connecticut from complications from a recent stroke. Sendak was 83.

Lady Gaga got a warm welcome to Japan, as hundreds of fans turned up to greet her at the airport. Gaga is in the country for a string of concerts that start on Thursday (May 10) and run through Sunday (May 13).

Finally, Johnny Depp hit the red carpet in Los Angeles for his new film, "Dark Shadows." The actor posed for pictures and waved to fans. He was joined at the event by co-star Michelle Pfeiffer, and director Tim Burton.
