Did you know there are nearly 500 million dogs in the world and shockingly, 75% of them or about 375 million of them are stray dogs according to the World Society for the Protection of Animals.

Pamela Anderson is calling attention to this issue by adopting a stray dog from India. Hindustan Times notes that that the dog being adopted was found at a construction site in Mumbai and now Anderson's california residence will be the puppy's new home.

Recently, another celebrity, Sunny Leone, an adult movie start signed up to be a spokesperson for PETA's campaign in India causing controversy but also bringing to light the social issue surrounding stray dogs.

Millions of stray dogs that roam in the streets around the world often have to deal with limited food and it's not uncommon for them to have injuries. Worse, they are considered a threat to people living in those neighborhoods and are often treated inhumanely and even killed through various means. Over time, with the population growth of humans along with urbanization, it seems that this problem has only gotten worse in the past few decades.
