Dalai Lama receives warm welcome on his return to India.
Tibetan spiritual leader The Dalai Lama receives a warm welcome on his arrival in Dharamsala from his official visit to the United States of America and Canada.
The Dalai Lama arrived in India today, from his official visit to the US and Canada. He received a warm welcome in Dharamsala, in northern India.
Officials of the Central Tibetan Administration as well as members of a Tibetan NGO were present at Dharamsala's Kangra airport.
The President of Tibetan Youth Congress, Tsewang Rigzin was there to welcome the Tibetan spiritual leader.
[Tsewang Rigzin, President of Tibetan Youth Congress]:
"Well, I am here to welcome His Holiness the Dalai Lama back to Dharamshala from his official trip to US and Canada. So, we are honoured to see him here today," said Rigzin.
On Thursday, Tibetan spiritual leader the Dalai Lama left for the US and Canada to hold talks and participate in panel discussions ranging from the Tibetan cause to non-violence.
An estimated 80,000 Tibetans, along with their spiritual leader, the Dalai Lama, arrived in India in 1959 after an unsuccessful uprising against Chinese rule.
China has ruled Tibet since Communist troops marched in 1950.
