India is usually enjoying monsoon weather this time of year, however, in many regions the rains are either late or have failed to come entirely.

The dry weather is threatening the livelihoods of thousands of households. In the state of Andhra Pradesh 70 per cent of the population depends on agriculture.

From Madnoor village, Al Jazeera's Prerna Suri reports that 21 farmers in the state have killed themselves in the past six weeks.
