Fire leaves 10,000 Bhutanese refugees homeless - 08 Mar 08

Fire has ripped through a refugee camp in Nepal destroying the homes of more than 10,000 people from nearby Bhutan.

More than 100,000 refugees from Bhutan have been living in Nepal after being forced to flee their Himalayan home in the 1990s.

Last year a deal was struck to resettle 60,000 of the refugees in the United States. But that controversial process is yet to begin.
