Turkey's ruling party faces test in local polls - 28 Mar 09

Turkey is gearing up for Sunday's local election, seen as an indicator of support for the ruling Justice and Development, or AK Party (AKP).

The AKP has been doing well in opinion polls despite a worsening economy. However, many Turks wonder whether Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the prime minister, has done enough to earn a clear victory.
