A dusk to dawn curfew has been ordered in Chad's capital and six southern and eastern regions in an attempt to restore calm after deadly fighting between rebels forces and government troops.
Civilians who escaped the clashes are now starting to return from Cameroon. Twenty thousand refugees are thought to have fled the capital Ndjamena. Their return follows the first public appearance by Chad's president Idriss Deby, since fighting broke out last week. Haru Matasa reports for Al Jazeera from Ndjamena.
