A border crisis is edging closer to all-out conflict between newly separated Sudan and South Sudan. In a series of tit-for-tat attacks, South Sudan seized a large oil field near the town of Heglig, which is officially recognized as belonging to the North. Khartoum responded saying they would use all means necessary to reclaim their territory. The international community has called on both sides to exercise restraint. The events have stalled crisis talks between the two states.
