This video compares two fluid motion estimations obtained for the same image sequence with different approaches:
- correlations (up), with 32x32 pixel windows and 50% overlay;
- wavelet-based optic flow (bottom), at full resolution.
The input sequence consists in 3072 experimental PIV images of 1024x1024 pixel representing the classical case of cylinder wake at Reynolds=3900.
Displayed area corresponds to the the near-wake.
Optic flow (bottom) enables here a much finer estimation of apparent motion.
