This revealing 1967 documentary looks at the African-American ghetto of Venice, California known as Ghost Town. Part lyrical, part cinema verite, its story is told by the youth of this failed society who explain the impact of high unemployment, drugs, guns and cheap wine on their lives. At the same time, only a few miles away, the Beach Boys were singing about the innocent, white-only pleasures of fast cars, surfing and young love.
