A total of three air strikes were launched by Israel into Gaza on Friday, killing 10 militants.

One rocket hit a car, killing two Palestinian militant faction leaders and injuring another man.

Separate air strikes launched during the night killed another eight militants in Gaza.

Several Palestinian militant groups said their gunmen returned fire.

"We say to the Zionist enemy assassinating our leader will not destroy the resistance men, you will see us in the field, the operations and the reaction of Salahudeen Brigades will come shortly soon."

A military spokeswoman said over two dozen rockets were fire into the Jewish state, injuring three civilians.

The death toll in Gaza was the worst since an incident in late October that killed five.

This is reigniting tension along a testy frontier and sparking fears of an escalation in violence in a region also bordering Egypt.
