Hi everyone, I'm Bridget Daly and you're watching ClevverMusic. A report just surfaced today that Michael Jackson's entire catalogue of music has been stolen by hackers. And it didn't JUST happen either. According to British paper the Sunday Times, hackers stole more than 50,000 music files from Sony Music, including his back catalogue and unreleased songs, LAST april. The good news is that they may have caught the people who are responsible. Two British men were arrested back in May in the UK over charges that they hacked into Sony Music's archive and illegally downloaded thousands of songs.
They are scheduled to stand trial next January. Crazy how all of this was kept such a secret! No word on how many tracks were stolen, but sources are saying it was the entire catalogue. Obviously that's a pretty big deal, seeing as though in 2010, Sony signed the biggest deal in recording history when it forked over $250 million to Michael Jackson's estate for the rights to his music.
Well we're certainly glad they caught the hackers! We can't believe they would expect to get away with this! Stick with ClevverMusic for more on this story to come, and we'll keep you posted. Thanks for watching. See you soon.
