U.S. Vice President Joe Biden arrived in Mexico City on Sunday, where he will hold separate discussions with President Felipe Calderon as well as three presidential candidates.
Biden will meet with opposition candidates Enrique Pena Nieto of the Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI), Josefina Vázquez Mota of the National Action Party (PAN), and Andrés Manuel Lopez Obrador of the Party of Democratic Revolution (PRD).
Border violence and drug smuggling are topics up for discussion as well as the continuing and real threats caused by increasing drug cartel violence inside Mexico.
Biden will travel on to Honduras on Tuesday to meet with President Porfirio Lobo and other regional heads of state to discuss drug policy and security issues.
