Captain John Carter, wanting to leave behind the civil war that ravages the US at the end of the 19th century, is mysteriously sent on Planet Basroom. There, he gets involved, against his will, in a terrible conflict between Tars Tarkas and the fascinating princess Dejah Thoris. In a declining world, Carter rediscovers his humanity, by realizing that the survival of this planet and its inhabitants lies between his own hands.
