NATO Koran burning sparks Afghan fury

A second day of demonstrations in the Afghan capital Kabul after copies of the Koran were burned at a NATO base.
Furious protesters throw stones at a U.S. army base.
They chant, "Death to America!"
(SOUNDBITE) (PASHTO) PROTESTER SHAHBAZ GULL SAYING:
"You criminals burning our Koran in our homes, why have you burned the Koran, are you displaying your power by burning the Koran? God is great."
Police fired shots to disperse the demonstrators.
Firefighters were called in to put out a fire set in a housing compound used by foreign contractors.
They also used water hoses to try to break up the angry mob.
At least 26 people were wounded in protests which took place in various locations across Afghanistan.
U.S. Defence Secretary Leon Panetta issued an apology for "inappropriate treatment" of copies of the Islamic holy book.
But similar incidents in the past have caused deep divisions and resentment among Afghans towards the tens of thousands of foreign troops in Afghanistan.
