PRESENTED BY TOM MILLETT
'You know... I should have a record deal', Tom said when I asked him to give me an idea of how he would like me to approach the writing of his website's biography section. He said it in such a pensive and musing way that I was certain he wasn't aware of my presence in the room. Lacking the guidance I sought from Tom, I will proceed to write the few things that I myself think are relevant to this section. Tom Whyte is aged 22. He is from Tipperary in Ireland and is a singer and an acoustic and electric guitar player. The songs on this site come from a demo entitled 'The Grand Scheme of Things'. Tom has also used the title 'A temple Built is a Backbone Broken' for the collection. This demo was recorded by a charitable friend, Andy Tuite, in his bedroom in Rowth, Cardiff, on Sunday the 31st of July 2005. It was a simple acoustic affair: The songs recorded were played using vocals/acoustic guitar/harmonica (Whyte) and a little bodhran/bass-guitar/tambourine (Joe Flavin) here and there. One might ligitimately say that, relative to Tom's feeble level of noteriety in his university's city of Galway, the demo was a big hit. Also, have a listen to songs from 'Who Owns This? (the demo that Tom made with the rock and roll group Los Monocles ') by visiting www.myspace.com/losmonocles . The band included Tom as guitar player and singer, Kieran Furey as bass guitarist, Steve Shaw as drummer and Gerard Duff as keyboardist. It was recorded by Steve's brother, Dave, in his bedroom in Athenry, Galway, on Friday the 24th and Saturday the 25th of March 2006. Tom Whyte certainly should have a record deal. - A. Fandaz.
