PRESENTED BY PAULINE FREEMAN
From Carrickmacross in Monaghan, Sanzkrit are widely regarded as one of the most exciting new bands on the Irish scene and big things are expected from the indie pop punks this year. So what do Sanzkrit sound like? Okay, Imagine if the Pixies had The Jam's pop sensibility, Television's suave cool and The Beatles knack for melody. Imagine if they played Joy Divisions instruments on The Cure's stage with Morrisey as Artistic advisor. Imagine if they grew up in an stereotypical Irish town in the nineties and witnessed the Nirvana revouloution as impressionable teenagers and subsequently overdosed on the lyricism of Waits and Dylan via the tormented drama of Radiohead and The Smashing Pumpkins. Add a pinch of Sonic Youth and Whipping Boy and a generous splattering of modern indie rock, a la Interpol, The Strokes and The Shins.. but you really must hear this band for yourself! www.myspace.com/sanzkrit
