A rock star welcome for opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi as she hits the campaign trail in Myanmar.
Her massive convoy was en route to the constituency where she will contest by-elections with her National League for Democracy Party in April.
In a parliament still stacked wtih military appointees, Suu Kyi will have her work cut out for her if she wins, but the elections are also a litmus test of the government's sincerity towards recent reforms.
She told the crowd there were many struggles ahead.
"I recognise this not because I'm disappointed but to say we need strength and reinforcement to overcome them," she added.
Free and fair elections are a pre-requisite for the lifting of Western sanctions on the underdeveloped but resource-rich state.
