B'nai Brith to organize African aid

B'nai Brith International opened its disaster relief fund to help the millions of African victims of the worst drought to hit East Africa in more than 50 years. Some 11 million people in Kenya, Djibouti, Ethiopia and Somalia are in need of food and water and medical care. The lack of rainfall in the countries has led to a sharp rise in food prices and an acute water and food shortages, severe malnutrition and inadequate medical care. Allan J. Jacobs President of Bnai Brith International said the scope of the crisis is staggering and called on humanitarian relief organizations to band together to assist the suffering victims in the areas devastated by conflict and drought. The organization said it was preparing to provide immediate relief and care to the suffering Africans.
