    Israelis succeed at Math Olympiad

    Israeli high school students who participated in the International Mathematical Olympiad in Amsterdam won one gold medal and four bronze medals raising the country's ranking from 53rd spot to 23rd out of 101 teams who took part in the event. The Israeli students trained for the competition with the assistance of the Weitzman Institute in Rehovot. The Chinese team won first place and the second place went to the United States with Singapore coming in at third place and Russia fourth. At this year's event 564 students from around the world participated in the international competition where a total of 54 gold medals, 90 silver medals and 137 bronze medals were awarded.
