Hezbollah has become a common word in the Syrian crisis. Since the unrest began in March 2011, the Lebanese resistance movement has been increasingly accused of involvement in the Syrian issue, as Hezbollah is considered a close ally of Bashar al-Assad. Time and time again opponents of the Syrian regime together with media outlets have spoken of Hezbollah members participating in violence against Syrian protesters. The accusations reached their peak when Syrian opposition elements accused Hezbollah of launching Katyusha rockets on Syrian areas near the border with Lebanon which had been witnessing fighting between the Syrian army and armed elements. Hezbollah has categorically denied these accusations describing them as groundless.
