Beilinson hospital will soon join the vanguard of world class hospitals that perform operations by means of the da Vinci surgical robot. The da Vinci is a robotic surgical system designed to facilitate complex surgery using a minimally invasive approach. It's most common use is to treat prostate cancer, specifically removing all or some of the prostate glance. Given the fact that Beilinson's urology staff performs about a quarter of the total prostatectomyies each year, this gives a major advantage to the hospital which is ran by Clalit health service organization. The da vinci robot can also assist in surgeries to treat bladder cancer, coronary artery disease, kidney cancer and obesity.
