The Defense Minister, Chief of Staff and Commander of the Navy have presented Israel's side in the storming of the Gaza flotilla. Ehud Barak said, "Whilst we regret the pain of the casualties the responsibility for this lies withthe organisers of the flotilla." The Navy Commander Eliezer Marom added that Israeli forces were facing threats to their lives and acted accordingly in response. Chief of Staff Gabi Ashkenazi claimed that IDF fighters acted with determination and sensitivity although he admitted they didn't have enough equipment necessary to disperse the demonstrations. The secuity leadership in Israel presents a united front, laying the blame for the incident and the consequences which left ten activists dead to the initiative of the Gaza flotilla. Israel said the six ships on route to Gaza were known suporters of terrorism closely linked to hamas and Al Qaeda and Jihadist movements and that the ships were warned not to enter the blockades shores off Gaza.
