Chris Christie for president? Governor throws his weight around
  • 12 years ago
http://www.nma.tv/ Supersized Republican Chris Christie became the governor of New Jersey in 2010. Facing a severe budget shortfall, Christie became a man on a mission. He has attacked the state's employees' unions, especially the teacher's union, for being overpaid and sheltered from the economic downturn. Christie says he wants to negotiate with unions to get a better deal for the taxpayers. But he vetoed the 'millionaire's tax' that Democrats sought. Christie got major kudos for taking 'third-rail' topics head on when he went to Washington, such as raising the retirement age for Social Security and shrinking health benefits for seniors. At home in New Jersey, Christie is betting that major state investments in Atlantic City will pay off.
