Our "Brilliant Minds" series introduces young scientists from across the world who live and work in Germany.Ilenia Battiato comes from Italy and does research at the Max Planck Institute for Dynamics and Self-Organization in Göttingen. The physicist is working there developing models that describe how fluids disperse in the soil. Her basic research is key to determining the extent of soil contamination and predicting landslides.
