SAP Named Outstanding Corporate Leader by Sustainability Roundtable; SunOpta Reports on Employee Volunteerism, Supply Chain, Joint Venture - CSR Minute for December 22, 2011

SAP has been named the Sustainable Real Estate Roundtable’s Outstanding Corporate Leader of 2011 at its Third Summit, held in Washington, D.C. SAP was chosen for its development of increased sustainability throughout its global facilities. The company has recorded a cost savings of 185 million Euros since 2008, and a carbon footprint reduction of 25 percent since 2007.

SunOpta, a Canadian company that specializes in natural, organic, and specialty foods, has released its first CSR report. Highlights include the launch of a formal employee volunteer program to increase community involvement; increased safety practices that have reduced lost time work days by 10 percent since 2008; adoption of a supplier partner code of conduct; and participation in fair trade programs. SunOpta also reported on its partnership with an Ethiopian company to create a joint venture to source and produce organic sesame seeds for worldwide distribution.
