STORY: UN LIFTS SANCTIONS ON LIBYAN BANKSDATELINE: Dec. 17, 2011LENGTH: 0:00:32LOCATION: WashingtonVOThe UN Security Council on Friday lifted sanctions on Libya's central bank and one of the country's key investment banks, in a bid to ease a cash crunch for the post-Gaddafi Libyan government.An estimated 150 billion dollars of assets were frozen around the world in February after the Security Council ordered sanctions against then Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi.After Gaddafi's fall, the Libyan interim government has repeatedly asked the UN to unblock the frozen assets, in order to finance the rebuilding of the war-ravaged country.
