How to Make Smoked Tomato Caprese Crostini - as part of the food and kitchen series by GeoBeats. I am going to teach you how to make a smoked tomato caprese crostini. It is a little different than your usual holiday Hors d'oeuvres and it has a lot of the Christmas colors in it so I like to serve it at my holiday parties. First, we are going to start by chopping up the smoked mozzarella. You will find smoked mozzarella at a lot of your specialty stores, they do not sell it anywhere, but is has your regular mozzarella flavor with an added kick of smokiness. I am just going to chop this up roughly. Next, I will take some grape tomatoes, so you cut the tomatoes into nice slices like so. I slice my bread to little slices on a bias. Now you are going to want to take some rinsed basil, the easy way to chiffonade basil, is to layer it like so, and roll it and just slice it on a bias again, just as you were doing with the crostini. So now you have nice chiffonade basil. So real simple, you just take the crostinis, place your smoked mozzarella like so, tomato or two, depending on how much you love tomatoes, some basil. Top that with a little salt a little pepper, salt. And there you go, smoked tomato caprese crostini.
