Some of you may know that I have been working with Capcom to bring you info on the game and I got an exclusive look at the Gem System with Senior Product Manager Matt Dahlgren. . He showed me the breakdown of how the Gem System is going to work. First, there are two basic types of gems, Assist Gems and Boost Gems. There will only be 5 Assist Gems included with the game but there will be 52 Boost Gems, totalling 57 gems that come standard. You will be able to equip 3 gems per character and you will be able to create 2 custom loadouts per character as well. . Assist Gems are passive gems that help you defensively. For example, there is an Auto-Block gem that you can equip to have you character automatically block against certain attacks from your opponent. Sounds almost like cheating right? Well, every time you use this gem it takes 1 meter from your Cross Gauge bar. . Other Assist Gems include Cancel Assist, Auto Throw Escape, Easy Input, and Super Easy Input. The easy input gems allow newer players to perform special attacks with fewer button presses, also an advantage. However, you have a limited moves list when you have these gems equipped. . The Boost Gems are where the game really shines and where the most amount of diversity is offered. They are divided into 5 different categories, Attack, Defense, Speed, Vitality, and Cross Gauge. In order for Boost Gems to be activated there is a condition that needs to be met, including having your opponent perform certain moves. The good news is your opponent cannot see what specific gems you have equipped, or know what your activation conditions are. . There are different levels to Boost Gems, Level 1, 2, or 3. Each level has different activation conditions, different rewards, and different drawbacks. For example, if you equip the Defense Gem, Iron Wall Level 2, you'll get a 20% increased in damage reduction for 15 seconds, but you'll get a 10% decrease in your damage output. . Many Level 3 Gems have a Pandora activation condition, which are good to use if you think you will be activating Pandora. But remember, going into Pandora gives you 10 seconds to finish off your opponent so use these gems wisely. . When Matt was giving me the demonstration of the gems, he showed me a loadout with three gems that all had the same activation condition, block 5 moves. By setting up your gems in this fashion you can have them all unlock at the same time to do a massive damage attack. The variety of activation conditions allows you to customize how you want to use your gems during the match. If you are defensive player, pick blocking activation conditions, or if you are an offensive player, pick attack activation conditions to deal lots of damage, the choice is yours. . You can learn more details about the gem system and see lots of gameplay footage in the new episode of X the Line on the Street Fighter YouTube page. You can also learn more details by checking out the Capcom Unity website. Both links are in the story info below. . And as a special treat, I am giving away these Limited Edition Bobble Buds for Street Fighter X Tekken! Leave me a comment on this video telling me what gems you think you will use in with your fighter and I will select a winner at random and announce it on our Facebook page next week. . I'll keep you updated on the latest Capcom news right here on Clevver Games so be sure to subscribe to not miss any info. I'm Andrea Rene and thanks for watching.
