Former Panamanian strongman Manuel Noriega arrives in Panama

STORY: Manuel Noriega, Panama's ruthless drug-running military dicator of the 1980's, arrived home in Panama aboard on a commercial flight on Sunday (December 11) to begin serving a 20-year term for the murders of opponents during his rule.
Noriega, now 77, was toppled in a U.S. invasion of Panama in 1989 and has spent the last two decades behind bars, first in Florida and then in France after being convicted for drug trafficking and money laundering during his time in power.
He was accompanied on the flight from France by Panama's Attorney General and a doctor. After arriving in Panama, Noriega was put aboard a helicopter to take him to police headquarters, from where he will be transported in a convoy to prison.
