ARA Convention Offers Insights into Big Picture of Sustainability
On the second day of the Agricultural Retailers Association’s 2011 Conference and Expo: Growing a Sustainable Business, What your customers, consumers and the government want from ag retailers, attendees heard from speakers who provided real-world and big picture perspectives about sustainability and how it applies to an ag retailers’ business.
Kicking off the speakers was Ian Hope-Johnstone, director, agriculture sustainability, PepsiCo. He shared the perspective from inside the food industry. He explained PepsiCo’s sustainability lens and how the company is applying it toward farmers and contracted growers. In addition, he said that ag retailers were in a prime position to help farmers reach their sustainability goals.
