STORY: YEMEN COALITION GOV'TDATELINE: Dec. 11, 2011LENGTH: 0:00:44LOCATION: SanaaVOA national unity government was sworn into office in Yemen on Saturday after months of tension between the opposition and longtime President Ali Abdullah Saleh.The 34-member cabinet is headed by Prime Minister Mohamed Basindwa, an opposition leader who was nominated by the opposition coalition.The cabinet is made up of a nearly equal number of ministers from the opposition and President Saleh's General People's Congress party.The ministers lineup was unveiled on Wednesday in line with a Gulf-brokered power transfer plan signed in Saudi Arabia last month.The power transfer initiative requires Saleh hand over power to his deputy, and sets the date for early presidential elections on Feb. 21, 2012.Saleh will retain a title of honorary president for 90 days before resignation and enjoy immunity from prosecution.
