On Wednesday, Hong Kong businessman Carson Yeung attended a pre-trial hearing. The owner of English soccer team Birmingham City is being charged for laundering over 92 million dollars.
Yeung made bail and traveled to Britain in September from the 15th to the 19th to visit his team, the fans, the board and its new club manager. His bail cost over $1 million in cash.
Arrested in June, Yeung is accused of five accounts of money laundering. From the prosecution side, a forensic accountant said they had (quote) "strong evidence" against the tycoon. Nine other witnesses are expected to be called for the trial, which is due to take place early next year.
