My Romance - Chris Lawton at the Theatre Organ Heritage Centre, Peel Green, Manchester
  • 12 years ago
Me at my "local" - the Wurlitzer organ at the Theatre Organ Heritage Centre in Peel Green, Manchester.

The Wurlitzer organ here is one of the smallest in the country with 6 ranks of pipes and was originally built for the Trocadero in Liverpool. It was later moved to the Gaumont cinema in Dingle - a suburb of Liverpool.

The original relays have been replaced by a computerised system which enables features such as Quint and Tierce couplers to be programmed in.

Im playing the beautiful "My romance" and all 6 ranks of pipes get featured in this tune at some point or another with the Triangle at the very end to round things off!

My thanks must go to Peter Taylor for allowing me use of this little gem.

The Lancastrian theatre organ trust must be congratulated on their work in making this organ and all the other artefacts in the museum look like they were only built yesterday.
